One of the most important tasks of trauma and orthopedic surgery is the timely and comprehensive treatment of injured patients. The Department of Trauma and Orthopedic Surgery at Klinikum Landkreis Erding provides inpatient treatment to about 2,100 patients and performs roughly 2,000 surgeries per year. In the Emergency Room, about 11,200 emergency treatments of all kinds are provided every year, about 8,400 of which are emergency surgeries. The Outpatient Surgery Center provides care to an additional 6,200 patients.

The department employs highly qualified staff and advanced equipment for the quick and competent treatment of both minor and severe injuries. The diagnostic and therapeutic services comply with the latest medical standards. Alongside comprehensive trauma management, the department particularly focuses on the surgical treatment of degenerative joint diseases by means of shoulder, hip and knee joint replacement. Another main therapeutic focus of the department is the application of arthroscopic techniques for the diagnosis and treatment of diseases of large joints (“keyhole surgeries”). Injuries and damage caused to the shoulder, knee, ankle and other joints by wear and excessive stress can be treated while preserving soft tissue to the greatest possible extent.

Patients are provided with competent advice and treatment by specialized trauma surgeons and orthopedists; the diagnostic and therapeutic procedures comply with the latest medical standards. Post-operative treatment is carried out in close collaboration between registered physicians and the physical therapists involved, making it possible to provide patients with high-quality all-inclusive medical care.
