Head of Hematology, Oncology and Palliative Medicine: Prof. Dr. Folke Schriever

Prof. Dr. Folke Schriever has been head of the Hematology and Oncology Department of Klinikum Landkreis Erding since 2009. Prof. Schriever established the department at Klinik Dorfen in November 2007.
Following successful completion of his medical studies and scientific research in the field of tumor immunology at the Institute for Immunology, both at Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, a grant of the German Research Foundation enabled Prof. Schriever to do several years of research in the field of tumor immunology at the Dana Farber Cancer Institute of Harvard University in Boston.
He additionally completed a two-year clinical training at Brigham and Women’s Hospital of Harvard University. Prof. Schriever continued his specialty training at Klinikum Charlottenburg (later on at Klinikum Rudolf Virchow) of the Free University of Berlin. He then moved on to Charité of Berlin Humboldt University, where he also completed his postdoctoral thesis in the field of internal medicine.
After working as chief consultant at Klinik Wartenberg for some time, he established his medical practice specialising in oncology in Dorfen in 2002. With him as a specialist, the Hematology and Oncology Department of Klinik Dorfen was established in 2007, which has since then been expanded to become an independent ward headed by Prof. Schriever. Prof. Schriever additionally holds a part-time lectureship at Regensburg University as a supernumerary professor.
